Arts Commission

Announcing new project: "Out of the Box" utility box painting. Information and application form posted here as PDF, 596 KB.

The City of Wenatchee’s Arts Commission includes a diverse group of volunteers who reside within the City limits. This Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the Wenatchee City Council and is staffed part-time by the Museum Director.

Funding for public art projects and programs is generated from the 1%-for-Art Fund. The fund receives monies from capital improvement projects undertaken by the City of Wenatchee that cost more than $75,000. One percent of those funds is then transferred to the art fund. Monies distributed to arts programs include the Community Art Support Grant Program. Award recipients for 2010 are the Wenatchee Valley Museum (for "People of Our Past" living history performances), Woods House Conservatory of Music (for the "Instrument Petting Zoo"), Robert Graves Gallery (to support funding for 2010 exhibits), Two Rivers Gallery (for art workshops for kids and adults), and Write on the River (for a writers' conference).

The Commission recommends artists for projects or programming for art to the City Council for final approval. The Commission also oversees the City’s large art collection of sculpture, wall art and permanent site-specific installations.
