The City of Wenatchee’s Department of Community Development provides direction, guidance and support for current, long-range and neighborhood planning, building compliance and code enforcement. The Department also administers community develoment and housing programs. The Department consists of the following two divisions: Building and Planning.
We have provided information to serve as a resource for our customers. Builders and developers will find our applications and fee schedule, as well as development codes to download. Citizens will find public hearing notices and agendas, and can download our long-range plans and development codes that are written to protect our community.

Land Use Planning provides assistance to land owners wishing to build, divide or develop their land by interpreting land use code requirements and assisting with the application process, including those for short plats, major subdivisions, planned developments, conditional use permits, binding site plans, variance requests, general zoning information, and flood plain determinations. In addition, our Community Programs provide a variety of community assistance through programs such as the City Housing Rehabilitation Program, Chelan-Douglas Homeless Housing Program, and the Community Development Block Grant Program.

Building Compliance issues building permits and strives to ensure that all buildings constructed within Wenatchee City limits are compliant with all structural, safety and energy standards outlined in international, state and local ordinances. Code Enforcement ensures that violations of the Wenatchee City Code affecting the health, safety and welfare of the community are brought into compliance by the responsible party/property owner.
