Each year, the Diversity Advisory Council honors individuals, groups or organizations for their civil and social contributions to our community. Nominations are received throughout the year and are due by December 31st for consideration. Honorees are announced and presented with the award at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. event held at the Wenatchee Community Center.

Criteria for Nominations
The award recognizes an individual, group or organization in the Wenatchee Valley that is making significant contributions to the work of protecting civil rights and/or promoting social justice. Nominees must meet the following criteria:
1. Must reside and/or conduct business in the Greater Wenatchee Area
2. The nominee's civil rights and social justice work has had a significant impact on the lives of a specific population or populations within the Greater Wenatchee Area, including, but not limited to, children and families, migrant workers, the homeless, mental health consumers, or other underserved or disadvantaged groups or classes in our region
3. Civil rights and social justice work has substantially increased public awareness and/or led to change in public, City, or county policy on issues that affect those not equally served or represented in our communities
4. Though professional work may be considered as part of the award process, a commitment to civil rights and social justice work by the nominee must be demonstrated
