Who needs a business license?
Anyone engaging in business activities within the Wenatchee City limits is required to obtain a Wenatchee business license, whether or not a place of business is maintained within the City limits. Business licenses are valid for one year from the date of application. A renewal notice will be mailed to the mailing address on file approximately one month prior to expiration. Failure to renew your license prior to the expiration date will result in penalties and possible collection.
How do I obtain a business license for the City of Wenatchee?
You may apply for a City of Wenatchee business license by submitting an application with the required fee. All applicants are required to have a Uniform Business Identification (UBI) number from the Washington State Department of Revenue, (509) 885-9825. Once you have a UBI number, you may complete one of the following applications:
Home Based businesses license application (Including daycare, adult family homes, and group homes)
Inside City business application- (Non home based)
Commercially zoned businesses must receive the approval of the City's Fire, Community Development and Environmental Departments before a license will be issued (except renewals that have no change in ownership, locations or services provided). This process includes a walk-through inspection by the Building Division, (509) 888-3261. Once all of the necessary approvals are obtained, your business license will be mailed. Please allow at least 30 working days.

Change of address, change of ownership or closures:
City business licenses are nontransferable and are issued to a specific location. If your business changes location or ownership, a new business license application must be submitted (no additional fee is required for an address change). You must report mailing address changes, ownership changes, or closure of business to the City of Wenatchee License Department.

The City of Wenatchee’s business license fee is based on the number of full-time equivalent employees and/or working owners. Fee must accompany application - NON REFUNDABLE

A temporary/itinerant license may also be purchased for occasional vendors. Such temporary license fees are $50.00 for a 30-day license, or $25.00 for a three-day license, payable in advance. Any temporary business, itinerant vendor, stationary vendor, mobile vendor, door-to-door sales and/or concessionaire conducting business beyond 30 days must obtain a permanent license. Occupation License Requirement:
Per City Code 5.84. any business engaging in the activity of providing public utilities must obtain an occupation license and is subject to the utility tax therein prescribed. The fee for such license is $10 annually and should be obtained prior to the start of business.
