The Arts Commission is a seven-member citizen volunteer commission that serves in an advisory capacity to the Wenatchee City Council.  The Commission recommends artists for projects and art related programming and also oversees the City’s art collection.


Funding for public art projects and arts programs is generated from the 1%-for-Art Fund. The fund receives monies from capital improvement projects undertaken by the City of Wenatchee that cost more than $75,000. One percent of project budget is then transferred to the art fund.  Arts programs include Art on the Avenue Sculptures, integrated public art and:                     

  • Out of the Box - Traffic Utility Box Art Program 
    Traffic control boxes throughout the city can sometimes be unsightly fixtures. The Wenatchee Arts Commission has a solution! Artists or art groups are invited to submit proposals to create art that enhances the space and is compatible with the location. Click here for more information and to download an application packet.  Click here to view completed projects. 


The Arts Commission usually meets on the third Tuesday of each month at City Hall (129 South Chelan Avenue).  Meetings begin at 4:00 p.m.  Meetings and agenda packets are contained on the City Calendar page.


Members of the commission are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.  They are selected from as evenly dispersed geographic areas as possible and have interests in visual, literary and performing arts. They do not receive compensation for their services and serve three-year terms. The current Board members are:

For consideration of appointment to the Commission, all applicants must complete the Advisory Board Application Form and submit it to the City Clerk no later than October 31st. Persons interested in serving on the Commission are strongly encouraged to attend a meeting prior to completing an application.
