The City of Wenatchee’s Department of Community and Economic Development provides guidance and support for current, long-range and neighborhood planning, building compliance and code enforcement. The Department also administers community development and housing programs. The Department has provided these services for many years and continues to perform these functions on behalf of the community.  However, changes have occurred over the last few years due to staff changes and budget reductions.  The City is now in the process of replacing staff and making some slight restructuring efforts to better serve the community.  Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions might have for improving our service.  We would like to hear from you and appreciate feedback.

Some of the changes we are considering include:

  • Implementing online permitting software to streamline permitting service for builders, homeowners, and contractors.
  • Focus on neighborhood outreach and support.
  • Continuing to supporting economic development, but focus on changing economy in the City of Wenatchee while supporting business expansion and startup generally in the Wenatchee urban area.
  • Streamlining code enforcement efforts with an emphasis on education and outreach followed with enforcement.
  • Streamline Business License Services and provide the business community with economic data and feedback.

Again, please feel free to contact any of us.  Also, Steve King, our director, would like to hear directly from you.  He can be reached at (509) 888-3203 or
