Project Description: Renovation of Kiwanis Methow Park, including: the addition of an ADA accessible walkway system  throughout the park; addition of permanent restrooms; creation of community garden space; adding shade covers for the existing play area; incorporating nature play elements into the hillside; adding a new multi-purpose shelter; replacing the basketball court with a plaza with shade trees; new park and regulatory signs; irrigation and lighting upgrades; creating a new half basketball court with skate ramp features on the current grass field; addition of public art; addition of a turf multi-purpose sport field; improved storm water treatment; alley visual and storm water treatment improvements; sidewalk crossing improvements and ramps and additional tree and landscape plantings.

SEPA Review: The City of Wenatchee has reviewed the proposed project for probable adverse environmental impacts and expects to issue a determination of nonsignificance (DNS) for this project. The optional DNS process in WAC 197-11-355 is being used. THIS MAY BE YOUR ONLY OPPORTUNITY TO COMMENT ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT.
Existing Environmental Documents: A Supplemental to the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Wenatchee Urban Area Comprehensive Plan, dated May 2007, as amended, is an existing environmental document that generally evaluates the potential impacts of this type of development.
Permits / Approvals Required: State of Washington Recreation Conservation Office approval of construction documents. City Council approval of construction bid award. City plumbing permit, City building permit, PUD electrical permit, labor and Industries electrical permit.
Public Review and Comment Period: PUBLIC COMMENT ON THIS PROPOSAL IS ENCOURAGED, and will be accepted through 5:00 PM on November 20, 2018. Agencies, Tribes, and the public are encouraged to review and comment on the proposed project and its probable environmental impacts. Written comments must be submitted to the Department of Community Development, 1350McKittrick Street, Suite A, Wenatchee, WA 98801; Attention: John Ajax or email jajax@wenatcheewa.gov for additional information or to review application materials.

Review Process: A Type II Administrative Review process as provided for Chapter 13.09 WCC will be used for this application. The development regulations that will be used for project mitigation and provide consistency with the type of land use for the proposed site include the following Titles of Wenatchee City Code: Title 13, “Administration of Development Regulations”; Title 12, “Environmental Protection”; Title 10, ”Zoning”; Title 9, ”Public Services”; Title 7, “Streets and Sidewalks”; Title 4, "Health and Sanitation"; Title 3, "Fire"; Title 2, "Buildings"; and the City of Wenatchee Urban Area Comprehensive Plan.
