NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing previously scheduled for Thursday, December 5, has been rescheduled to be held by the City Council of the City of Wenatchee at a special meeting on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at 5:15 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at Wenatchee City Hall, 301 Yakima Street, Wenatchee, Washington, to consider adding Chapter 5.112 “Business and Occupation Tax” to the Wenatchee City Code, imposing a business and occupation tax of two tenths of one percent (.2%) on business within the City of Wenatchee, establishing exemptions, and providing for an effective date. This chapter implements Washington Constitution Article XI, Section 12 and RCW 35A.82.020 and 35A.11.020 (code cities); which give municipalities the authority to license for revenue. In the absence of a legal or constitutional prohibition, municipalities have the power to define taxation categories as they see fit in order to respond to the unique concerns and responsibilities of local government. It is intended that this chapter be consistent with the mandatory requirements of Chapter 35.102 RCW for municipalities. Uniformity with provisions of state tax laws should not be presumed.

Dated this 7th day of November, 2019.
