Wenatchee Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department COVID-19 Operations Update

Post Date:05/11/2020

As we strive to move forward with operations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, there have been major impacts on local parks and recreation opportunities. Due to various health, safety and operational considerations, the City of Wenatchee (City) pool will not be opening this season.

This decision was not taken lightly as the pool serves as an important recreation hub for the community. The City pool provides social, physical and life safety benefits to its our community through activities ranging from swim lessons and swim teams, lap swims, and to provide a respite from the hot summer days. However, due to the many challenges and uncertainties presented by COVID-19 and its impacts on program preparation, closing the pool for this season is the safest approach in considering the health of pool guests and staff.

These are unprecedented times and we will continue to monitor the situation and hope to be able to re-open other parks and recreation amenities such as the park wading pool program, Rotary Park splash pad, Day Camps and Concerts in the Parks as statewide restrictions are lifted.
