Edgar Reinfeld Appointed as Interim City Administrator

Edgar ReinfeldWith the departure of the City Administrator, Mayor Mike Poirier has appointed Chief of Police Edgar Reinfeld of the Wenatchee Police Department as the Interim City Administrator as an additional assignment until a permanent replacement is hired.  A nationwide search is underway for the position.

Edgar brings a broad scope of experience to this interim role based on his work in local government since 1995 when he was hired as a Coach Operator for Link Transit.  He came to the City of Wenatchee and the Wenatchee Police Department in 1999 as a Police/Fire/Medical Dispatcher and later in Public Works in the Water Department.  Over his first five years with the City, Edgar developed new dispatch protocols and streamlined radio procedures for seventeen regional fire departments.  He also modernized the water metering program, converting the water system to radio-read equipment.  In 2004, he was commissioned as an Officer with the Wenatchee Police Department.  Since then, he has held many roles including Traffic Officer, SWAT Operator, Detective, Volunteer Coordinator, and Patrol Sergeant.  He later promoted to Captain in 2016 where he led efforts to gain accreditation for the department, conversion to a centrally-managed policy manual, and strategic planning.  He was selected as Chief of Police in July 2024 and will continue to serve in that capacity through the duration of this interim role.

He also continues to serve in the United States Air Force Reserve where he holds the rank of Chief Master Sergeant and is the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 446th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.  He has led multiple overseas temporary duty assignments in Japan, Germany, Peru, and Scotland to provide operational support for Air Mobility operations in both exercises and real-world events.  He has been awarded three Meritorious Service Medals and an Air and Space Forces Commendation Medal for his actions.  As a Chief Master Sergeant, he is highly regarded as a public speaker, personnel development materials developer and instructor, and has acted as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 446th Airlift Wing where he was the key adviser to the Wing Commander for over 2,000 assigned personnel.

Locally, Edgar has been heavily involved in community groups including the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, Wenatchee Downtown Association, CAFÉ, and others, to develop community events, programs, and partnerships that benefit people throughout our region.  Mayor Poirier stated, “Chief Reinfeld is the best and most logical choice with his broad knowledge and skillset established through dedication to and his caring ability for the City of Wenatchee.”
 
This appointment takes effect on August 29, 2025.
