Why is the City doing this project?
This project aims to enhance access to the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail for South Wenatchee residents, an historically underserved population. The project extends improvements from the South End Bike/Ped Access Bridges Project to South Wenatchee Ave., enhancing pedestrian and cyclist safety with a one-way road and two-way cycle track. It adds sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, designated parking, and safety features like RRFBs and ADA-compliant ramps. Overall, the project seeks to connect vulnerable populations to non-motorized trails/commercial arears, promoting equity and accessibility. At the completion of this project, pedestrians and cyclists will have the ability to travel from Wenatchee’s downtown core to East Wenatchee’s downtown core on their own designated ROW. This will enhance both City’s economic and recreational well-being.
What will this project include?
One-way road, two-way separated bike lane, sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, designated parking, tree canopy, art work, safety features, and place making additions.
What to expect
This project is set to start Spring 2027. The working hours will be between 7:00am - 5:00pm. There will be planned road closures for the duration of the project. There are no anticipated power or water outages.
