The Fifth and Emerson Project was declared substantially completed on December 20, 2024.
Why is the City doing this Project?
The City was awarded grant funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and from the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Complete Streets Program to improve pedestrian Safety at Fifth Street and Emerson Avenue.
What will the Project include?
The project will enhance the existing crosswalks at Fifth Street and Emerson Avenue by installing new curb ramps, signs, Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), and appurtenances.
What to expect
The projected start date of this project is August 2024. The working hours will be between 7:00am-6:00pm. There are no planned water or power outages at this time. The section of Emerson Ave. between 4th St. and 5th St. will be closed for a period of time to expedite construction. Traffic will be detoured east and west along 4th St. Access for residents will be maintained at all times. Residents on this segment of Emerson Ave. will need to approach from 4th St. and there will not be an opportunity to enter from 5th St.
