Why is the City doing this Project?

The City of Wenatchee's Comprehensive Plan and the Wenatchee Valley Bicycle Master Plan identify McKittrick Street as a vital east-west connection for vehicles, transit, school buses, bicycles and pedestrians. The City is currently in construction on signal improvements at the intersection of McKittrick Street and Wenatchee Avenue. We have also completed urban road improvements (curbs, sidewalks, storm, etc.) just east of this project on McKittrick Street, Tacoma Street, and Pine Street. This project will help to extend these improvements to the current City Boundary at Pershing Street.

What will this Project include?

This project will include a number of urban corridor upgrades. This project will construct new curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides of the road. Parking will be removed on both sides of the road and bike lanes will be installed. Additionally, this project will include stormwater infrastructure improvements, and it will upgrade the street lighting along this span of the corridor.

What to Expect:

The City and SCJ Alliance (Consultants) have been working on the early design to establish the project footprint. Now that the footprint has been established, SCJ Alliance along with their subconsultants will begin approaching individual property owners about acquiring right-of-way. Additionally, we hope to be hosting an open house later this spring to go over the project design elements and how they will affect all patrons, especially the residents along the corridor.
