What will this Project include?
This project, nicknamed "MegaKittrick", is the combination of three separate projects that have been combined for their construction phase. The combined project will construct a new traffic signal at North Wenatchee Avenue and McKittrick Street, extend McKittrick Street east towards the BNSF railroad tracks, and construct median and sidewalk improvements along North Wenatchee Avenue. McKittrick Street will intersect with a new street being constructed, North Columbia Street, that will serve the redevelopment of the parcels between the railroad tracks and North Wenatchee Avenue. The project will also construct stormwater, sanitary sewer, PUD-owned watermains, and extend PUD power and fiber across North Wenatchee Avenue to serve the future needs of the area.
Future project plans include extending McKittrick Street further to the east under the tracks to intersect with Confluence Parkway.
What to expect?
This project will span two construction seasons and is anticipated to be completed by September 2024. The contractor will suspend work for the winter starting in Mid November of 2023, and come back in July 2024 to finish constructing the median improvements and install the traffic signal and roadway/pedestrian illumination along North Wenatchee Avenue. When work resumes in the spring, the two way left turn lane will be closed between Hawley and Maple within the project limits and left turns will be restricted. Lane closures will be limited to night time only.
