Home MenuOrchard Avenue Curb Ramps
Why is the City doing this Project?
Orchard Ave is a major east-west connection for the local community, and provides access to schools, neighborhoods, and recreational opportunities. The existing pavement condition has deteriorated to a point of needing rehabilitation, and has come up in the City’s pavement restoration program priority matrix. It continues to be outweighed by other projects due to the high cost associated with replacing deficient curb ramps along this corridor. Many of the existing curb ramps do not meet current standards, and are considered a barrier to pedestrian traffic. With any pavement rehabilitation, the ramps would need to be replaced. The high cost associated with replacement of the ramps makes this project unfeasible with our pavement preservation programs budget.
What will this Project include?
With this project the City would update curb ramps along this corridor to current standards, providing an accessible route along this important corridor. This would also allow the City’s pavement preservation program the opportunity to rehabilitate the aging pavement surface with a future project.
What to expect?
This project is set to start Spring 2028. The working hours will be 7:00am - 5:00pm. There are potential road closures with flaggers and we have no anticipated power or water outages.
