Low-Income Housing Grant

RCW 36.22.178 authorizes a $10 surcharge on documents recorded through the County Auditor’s Office for the purpose of providing funds for housing programs for extremely low and very low-income persons. The City of Wenatchee receives a percent of funds collected and allocates funds in accordance with the City's Low-Income Housing Program Guidelines.

Eligible activities include:

  • Acquisition, construction, or rehabilitation of housing projects or units within areas that are affordable to residents with incomes at or below 50%  of the area's median income
  • Support of building operation and maintenance costs for housing projects or units within housing projects built with housing trust funds that are affordable to residents with incomes at or below 50% of the area's median income, and that require a supplement to rental income to cover ongoing operating expenses
  • Rental assistance vouchers for housing projects or units within housing projects that are affordable to residents with incomes at or below 50% of the area's median income, to be administered by a local public housing authority or other local organization that has an existing rental assistance voucher program consistent with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's section 8 rental assistance voucher program standards
  • Operating costs for emergency shelters and licensed overnight youth shelters

  • SAGE - Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter

  • Women's Resource Center - Parkside Place
  • Columbia Valley Housing Authority - Homeownership Assistance 
  • Community Action Council - Crescent Village Renovation
  • Habitat for Humanity - Land Acquisition/New Construction for Single Family Residences
  • City of Wenatchee - Ninth Street Park Assistance Program
  • Community Action Council - Yakima Apartments Pre-development Costs
  • YWCA - Emergency Shelter
  • SAGE - Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter
  • Hospitality Ministries: Emergency Shelter
