The Wenatchee valley is growing and will continue to grow as new industries emerge and families, retirees, and professionals move here to work and play. This growth is forcing housing costs to rise, has challenged the local rental market and has resulted in a lack of affordable housing.
The City of Wenatchee is planning for the future of housing in the area by starting a complete review of the city land use rules and regulations. The City is teaming up with Makers, an award winning architectural and urban design firm, and analytics firm Community Attributes Inc, to find solutions, identify economic opportunities, and to revise the land use rules and regulations on housing. The Request for Proposals (RFP) that was used in selecting the consultant can be accessed here.
The Our Valley Our Future Housing Solutions Group recently released their recommendations in a report that can be accessed at the following internet address: http://www.ourvalleyourfuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/OVOF-Housing-Report-FINAL.pdf
