The City of Wenatchee has adopted the following sub-area plans:
Waterfront Sub-Area Plan (adopted 2004)
In 2003, the City of Wenatchee and the Chelan County Public Utility District developed a long-range plan to outline goals and objectives for future waterfront development. The process included considerable public input and anticipated growth projections for the next 20 years to help define a vision and new development standards. The resulting document is a synopsis of the larger final plan concept which provides the basis for future waterfront planning decisions.
Grandview Historic District Sub-Area Plan (adopted 2006)
The purpose of the Grandview Historic District is to preserve and protect the original character and integrity of its historic buildings, sites, landscapes and its distinct sense of neighborhood.
It is recognized that the character of the District is created by the diversity within its boundaries as seen in the distinct architectural styles. These styles include large stately homes, carriage houses, small cottages and multi-family dwellings, as well as churches and institutions and established parks, trees and landscapes.
Central Business District (CBD) Sub-Area Plan (adopted 2007)
In order to update Downtown’s vision and ensure that its redevelopment was in alignment with the Waterfront Sub-area Plan, the Wenatchee Downtown Association conducted a series of stakeholder and focus group meetings beginning in the summer of 2002. This 18-month volunteer process produced a series of issues, goals and opportunities for a greater Downtown District.
Sunnyslope Sub-Area Plan (pending final adoption by Chelan County)
The Sunnyslope Sub-area Plan is designed to guide development decisions through the next 20 years. The area is projected to grow by an additional 6,000 residents by 2025. This plan outlines the goals and policies that, in concert with the proposed land use scenario, will guide growth in the Sunnyslope subarea. This plan is designed to work in combination with Chelan County and the City of Wenatchee’s comprehensive planning efforts. Further, the plan is envisioned as an implementation component of the City's comprehensive plan.
