To be considered for a job opening, applicants must complete and submit a City of Wenatchee employment application, along with a current resume and cover letter. Once the position has closed, the Human Resource Department and Department Director, or their designee, will review all application packets. This process can take up to three weeks. Individuals that meet qualifications will be contacted for an interview. All candidates will be notified of their application status by the Human Resources Department.
Completed applications and resumes must be received by Human Resources no later than 5:00 p.m. on the posted closing date.
A structured job interview will be conducted for all selected candidates. Careful consideration is given to ensure that interview questions are applicable. Panel interviews are typically used, and panel composition can vary with each position. Individuals from other organizations or members of the public may serve as members of the panel.
Job testing may be required for some City positions. The type of testing, if any, will be developed by the City and the results will be utilized to determine the applicant’s ability to perform one or more of the essential job functions.
The City of Wenatchee will provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities, if requested. Please notify the Human Resources Department at least five days prior to the need.
Finalists for a position will be asked to provide a list of references, and must sign the reference check waiver that is part of the City of Wenatchee employment application.
Following a review of the applicants, interviews, testing results (if applicable), and reference checks, the department Director or their designee will identify the candidate they feel is most qualified to fill the position. The candidate will be contacted either by the Department Director or the Human Resources Department and given a conditional offer of employment pending successful passing of an Investigative Consumer Report (criminal background).
All other applicants that were interviewed and not selected will be notified by the Human Resources Department.
