Why is the City doing this Project?

The Wenatchee Convention Center (WCC) showcases and celebrates the connection with Wenatchee and the downtown urban fabric.  Owned by the City of Wenatchee and operated by Coast Hospitality Group, WCC is dedicated to bringing visitors to Wenatchee and serving the community and state by hosting local events, celebrations, large events, and conferences.

The goal of this project is to attract new clientele, better serve events/users of the space, allow for flexibility, provide needed amenities, and facilitate ease of coordination with the attached Numerica Performing Arts Center.

What will the Project include?

The project consists of the construction of a 2-story building addition (total of ~24,000 SF) attached to the existing Wenatchee Convention Center and Numerica Performing Arts Center.  The upper level of the expansion will add three breakout rooms, pre-function space, back of house space, kitchen expansion, additional IT and electrical rooms and an office.  The lower level of the expansion will add restrooms, additional pre-function area, and an unfinished assembly area.

What to expect?

Wenatchee Convention Center Expansion Reaches Substantial Completion!

We’re excited to share that the Wenatchee Convention Center Expansion achieved Substantial Completion on October 21st, and the new space is now open to the public!

A heartfelt thank you to our contractor, Absher Construction Company, and our design team, ALSC Architects, for their outstanding dedication and craftsmanship in bringing this project to life.

As we finish up the final details, please note that a small portion of the parking lot is still being used for contractor laydown, and 1st Street remains temporarily closed. Contractor presence will continue over the next few weeks as we wrap up remaining work.

We sincerely thank the community for their patience and support throughout this process.  Your understanding has helped make this project a success.

We anticipate full use of all facilities, including access to 1st Street, by mid-November.

Frequently asked questions:

  1. What will happen to the art?  What about Linda's bench?

The art and bench will be removed and stored offsite until the project is ready for reinstallation.  The City's Arts, Recreation and Parks committee is working on a relocation plan.  Linda's bench will be reinstalled in the downtown area.
